A current life update for y’all: I have a little less than two weeks left of my winter break (and online Jterm course – YAY) then I head back to school. I have decided that the next upcoming week I will be doing 95% yoga and 5% gym workouts. I think it is so important to listen to your body and acknowledge what it needs.

It is more than acceptable to take a step back and give your body a break from your normal routine. It is more than acceptable to do what your body needs. In fact, that’s what you SHOULD be doing. Don’t get me wrong, living an active lifestyle is important in living a healthy and happy life. BUT, if your body is screaming for rest, acknowledge it and recognize that is what your body needs.

Switching up my workouts keeps me excited for each and every day and eliminates the idea of ‘getting bored’ of doing the exact same thing every day. I encourage you to recognize and acknowledge what your body has been asking you to do lately and do it.

Follow your gut feeling, whether that be with your fitness, food, life, career, school. Do what will make you happy and allow you to live the happiest and healthiest life.


Anywho, lets get into the YUMMY stuff- KOMBUCHA!


My entire life I have struggled with stomach issues. However, the last year I have dove deeper into gut health and the benefits of having a healthy gut.

Last November, I was introduced into the benefits of probiotics. I always knew they existed, but never really realized their health benefits. Essentially, probiotics help balance ‘friendly’ bacteria in your digestive system. However, probiotics are also said to improve mental health conditions (amazing I know), reduce inflammation, and boost your immune system. Needless to say, probiotics are basically superheroes.

I initially had the yogurt Activia every day to incorporate more probiotics into my diet, but in October of 2018 I had to eliminate dairy from my diet for other health reasons. SO, that led me to my LOVE for kombucha tea. Kombucha tea is a fermented black or green tea drink with a ton of live probiotics and antioxidants.

Kombucha is actually recognized as one of the healthiest teas in the World (crazy I know). It has vitamin B1, B6, and B12 which are said to battle depression, stabilize mood, and enhance concentration… need I say more?

I can honestly say that by adding more probiotics into my diet has helped me more than I ever thought it would. I experience less bloating, irritation, and inflammation since drinking Kombucha.



My ABSOLUTE favorite Kombucha brand is Humm. SPECIFICALLY the Strawberry Lemonade flavor; however, I also like the hopped grapefruit flavor. Some people say they do not care for the taste of kombucha, and I have found that Humm has the best flavors that I am currently hooked on. It can be found at most grocery stores by the organic juices, usually near the fresh produce.

I do not drink kombucha every day, however I do try to drink two or three bottles of kombucha a week. I would prefer to drink one every day, but a college student budget sadly doesn’t allow that.
